I wanted it to look like something old, weathered, and unearthed rather than something freshly made.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe design features Michael Myers, the Myers house, pumpkins, cemetery imagery, skulls, and ornate gothic detailing, all worked into a deeply textured horror display piece.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhat makes this one especially unique is the wood itself.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe wood came from an \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eold barn that was locally known as a haunted “murder barn.” Least thats the story. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe barn was eventually torn down, and I bought a large amount of the better surviving wood before the remainder was burned. I estimate this wood to be \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003earound 100 to 150 years old\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, possibly older.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBecause this is genuine reclaimed wood, I intentionally did not try to make it look new or perfect. The back has been left largely raw, with only light sanding and stain, so you can still see and feel the age and character of the original lumber.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe wood also has a \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eslight natural bow on the back\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, while the engraved face remains flat. I chose to leave it that way rather than machine away the history of the board. To me, that slight movement in the wood is part of what makes the piece special.
