Memento Mori – Human Bone Reliquary Locket | 2.5D Skull Bas-Relief

A true memento mori, a reminder that death comes for us all.

This handmade round reliquary-style locket combines metalwork, engraving, glass, and genuine human bone into a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable macabre art.

Behind the clear glass front is a custom 2.5D bas-relief back panel, deeply detailed with a skull surrounded by scattered skeletal remains. Resting freely in front of the relief are genuine human bone fragments, saved from previous bone-working projects. The fragments give the piece an actual physical connection to mortality rather than simply depicting it.

The aged copper-toned round frame and skeletal relief give the locket the appearance of a small antique ossuary or Victorian mourning relic.

The locket has been permanently sealed shut. It is not designed or intended to be opened, and the bone fragments should remain enclosed behind the glass.

This isn't meant to be polished, delicate jewelry. It's intentionally raw, unsettling and unapologetically macabre. A miniature reliquary carrying the physical remains of someone who once lived.

Because genuine human bone is used, this piece is intended for adult collectors of oddities, memento mori, gothic jewelry and macabre art.

Please note: Natural human bone is an organic material. Variations, discoloration, pores, irregular edges and other imperfections are part of the material and the character of the piece.
